SHE SMELLS ME! IS THAT A GOOD THING?

8038 I can smell her (1 of 1)

8040 Oh my goodness I see a human watermark (1 of 1)

REMEMBER THE MAMA RACCOON WHO MOVED HER BABIES BACK AND FORTH, BACK AND FORTH?

THIS IS THE VERY SAME GAL…

IT’S NOT REAL COMMON FOR A RACCOON TO BE OUT AND ABOUT IN THE DAYTIME, BUT WHEN YOU HAVE LOTS OF LITTLE MOUTHS TO FEED, YOU DO WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO.

FOR THE LONGEST TIME, MAMA RACCOON DIDN’T SEEM TO KNOW THAT I WAS SITTING A MERE TEN FEET AWAY FROM HER. AFTER A BIT, SHE BECAME SUSPICIOUS THAT ALL WAS NOT RIGHT WITH THE WOODS.

SHE WOULD LIFT HER HEAD AND SMELL MY SCENT, MOVING VERY SLOWLY ALONG THE EDGE OF THE WOODSSHE WAS BEING EXTREMELY CAUTIOUS.

IN THE SECOND IMAGE YOU HAVE THE MOMENT WHEN SHE REALIZED THAT SHE WAS NOT ALONE. I WONDER HOW GOOD THEIR EYESIGHT ACTUALLY IS IN THE DAYTIME, CONSIDERING THAT THEY ARE A NOCTURNAL ANIMAL.

I WAS VERY SURPRISED WHEN SHE DIDN’T SCAMPER BACK TO HER LITTLE HOME UNDER THE DECK, BUT INSTEAD PROCEEDED TO MOVE TOWARD THE BIRDSEED AND CORN.

I DIDN’T MOVE ANYWHERE  I HAVE NO DESIRE TO SEEM LIKE A THREAT TO A MAMA RACCOON. THAT WOULDN’T BE IN ANYBODY’S BEST INTEREST!  BESIDES, I HAVE GROWN QUITE FOND OF HAVING MY SKIN ATTACHED TO MY BODY.

DON’T HATE US BECAUSE WE’RE BEAUTIFUL!

“DON’T MESS WITH MY KIDS….I’LL COME RIGHT OVER THERE AND PULL YOUR NOSE….I KNOW THEY’RE CUTE AND YES, THEY ARE HONOR STUDENTS IN KINDERGARTEN AND YES, I DO HAVE A STICKER ON MY BEHIND THAT SAYS, “MY KIDS FANGS ARE SHARPER THAN YOURS”, BUT DON’T JUDGE ME. NOW GO AWAY AND LEAVE US ALONE SO THAT WE CAN GET READY FOR ‘WORK’.

WE HAVE TO START TAPING OUR REALITY TV SHOW IN ABOUT AN HOUR AND THEY NEED TO FINISH EATING SO THAT THEY HAVE THE STRENGTH TO FIGHT AND SNARL AT EACH OTHER AND WALK AROUND PRETTY MUCH NAKED…YOU KNOW, LIKE THOSE OTHER PEOPLE ON THE SHOWS….HOW ELSE ARE WE SUPPOSED TO MAKE A LIVING?? WHAT’S THAT YOU SAY?, WHEN WE ACT LIKE THAT WE’RE NO BETTER THAN ANIMALS?  WELL NOW THERE’S A THOUGHT…..

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE…

“Mom! Mom! Can I hug you? I want to hug you!”

Today I  met the babies that mama raccoon has been hiding. They came out from under the deck, one at a time and this was the first one to arrive.

"I love you SOOOO much Mom!"

Look at that little tongue…she probably spends a lot of time keeping the little one clean..you know how kids are.
