I’ll let you guess which bird is the Red-bellied woodpecker. These birds intimidate almost all the other birds who visit the feeder. They scare the crackers out of the bluejays. This little chickadee was VERY brave, or very…unintelligent, it had no fear of the sharp beak that can drill holes into trees in no time at all.
I myself would be adverse to being close to one of these woodpeckers. Research hath informed me that the red-bellied woodpecker has a barbed tongue…so if it licked me it would hurt and to make matters worse…it has sticky spit.
