Why do all the birds look so nervous?

Maybe I’m reading too much into the looks on my feathered friends faces, but this bird looks a little startled. The cardinal from the previous post looked taken by surprise and I’m beginning to wonder if they don’t approve of my hairstyle…or lack thereof.

I’m going to start keeping a journal of their facial expressions and act accordingly if I find high levels of anxiety exhibited. By acting accordingly I mean, I may have to start wearing a bag over my head. I can’t bear the thought of scaring one of them to death.
