I noticed this turkey standing, or lurking, at the back of the yard the other morning. It remained in this spot for at least fifteen minutes. It didn’t even take a few steps one way or the other. Most of the wildlife I see, don’t remain in the same spot for extended periods of time. I wondered if there might be babies nearby. I’ve never seen any before, but this bird seemed like it was “on guard”.
Today was the big reveal. I glanced out the window and there they were, an entire turkey family! I was really excited to see them and to have proof that the turkey was lurking for a reason.
So the reasons aren’t murky for that quirky lurky turkey?

I’ve been attacked by turkeys. They get hostile about the strangest things and while it sound pretty funny, they are a pretty big bird. It WAS hilarious when they tried to take on my car, however. Turkeys. They don’t get it.

They’re very rare around here. We see them on our travels through Montana sometimes. It’s always a treat to see them. How lucky you are to see the babies!

We see them rarely here, also. I’ve never seen babies before, so every day I’m popping up and down in my office chair hoping to catch a glimpse of them.

I had to be quick, they were just starting toward the bushes and within a minute they vanished!

LOL! We’ve debated moving over the years, kids are on their own, etc. We just could never imagine or find a place that would be better for us. I used to have dreams that we sold the house and then we couldn’t come back. Dreams or nightmares…
