COULD THE BIG BAD WOLF BLOW THIS HOUSE DOWN?

Squirrel Nest (1 of 1)

HAVE YOU EVER READ THE CHILDREN’S BOOK, “THE THREE LITTLE PIGS?” I KNOW THAT MY FRIENDS HERE IN THE U.S. MAY HAVE BUT I’M SURE THERE ARE SOME OF YOU WHO HAVEN’T.

IN THAT BOOK THERE ARE THREE LITTLE PIGS AND A BIG BAD WOLF…MR. WOLF OF COURSE IS TRYING TO GET THEM AND THEY ARE TRYING TO NOT GET CAUGHT. AS A RESULT, THEY EACH BUILD THEIR OWN LITTLE HOUSE OUT OF DIFFERENT MATERIALS.

AT SOME POINT DURING THE DAY, THE WOLF COMES ALONG AND ATTEMPTS TO BLOW THEIR HOUSES DOWN…FIRST HE ISSUES A THREAT…

“I’LL HUFF AND I’LL PUFF AND I’LL BLOWWW YOUR HOUSE DOWN!” (In my opinion Mr. Wolf is jealous of their friendships and needs quite a bit of therapy…or else he’s just hungry and is thinking about having ribs for dinner.)

I WON’T RUIN THE STORY FOR YOU BY TELLING YOU ANYTHING MORE…BUT…(AND NOW WE GET TO THE MEAT OF MY STORY…sorry, couldn’t help myself)…BUT…THIS CONGLOMERATION OF LEAVES AND TWIGS AND POSSIBLY SQUIRREL SPIT…IS CALLED A “NEST”, IT’S WHERE THE SQUIRRELS LIVE!!

YES, JUST LIKE THE BIRDS, THE SQUIRRELS BUILD NESTS!

WAY UP HIGH IN THE TREES THEY BUILD THESE SQUIRREL ROLLER-COASTERS. I CALL THEM THAT BECAUSE WHEN A STORM COMES AND THE WIND REALLYYYY BLOWS, THESE BIG OLD TREES START MOVING!

I COULD GO OUTSIDE RIGHT NOW, PUSH AS HARD AS I COULD AND THAT TREE WOULDN’T BUDGE A FRACTION OF AN INCH…(IT MIGHT SLAP ME FOR BEING FRESH, BUT IT WOULDN’T MOVE.)

IT’S A WHOLE DIFFERENT STORY WHEN THE WIND GETS GOING.

THE TREES BEND AND SWAY LIKE CRAZY AND UNLESS THE WIND IS TOTALLY FREAKING OUT AT ABOUT NINETY MILES AN HOUR, THE NESTS STAY IN PLACE.

I SHOULD CLARIFY THAT…I’VE NEVER SEEN ONE COME DOWN, BUT LIKE THE LITTLE PIGS, I SUPPOSE THE STRENGTH OF THE NEST DEPENDS ON THE SQUIRRELS WILL TO LIVE.

RATS!  I JUST GAVE AWAY MORE OF THE PIG STORY…I WILL SAY NO MORE…GO OUT AND BUY THE BOOK…IT’S A BEST SELLER!

  1. If I had to guess, I’d say no way the wolf could blow down that nest.
First, it could never blow that hard. Second, wolves do not climb trees so it couldn’t actually reach the nest.
And third (and most importantly!) pork ribs are MUCH better than squirrel ribs. The wolf knows this…
