IT WAS DARK….VERY DARK….
Imagine that it is dark…..not that late at night….and you are driving at 10:30
at night through the countryside. You have the top off of the convertible, because
it’s warm and the air feels wonderful.
You turn onto the last stretch of the road home and suddenly there is the ROAR
of a huge truck engine….The truck makes the same turn that you just did…
Roaring and screaming as it makes the turn..the back tires of the truck lose their
grip on the road and the truck slides sideways, because it is moving at high speed.
As you turn to see what is happening behind you, shocked by the noise and bright blinding lights of the truck,
you realize that the truck is bearing down on you…..and he doesn’t like you.
In the space of seconds, he roars up behind you and you think he is going to push
you up onto the railroad tracks that are in front of you….suddenly he falls back..engine
screaming and then he roars up behind you again and you’re sure you’re going to
be hit….
The driver of your car pulls far to the shoulder of the road as soon as you are clear
of the railroad tracks..the driver waves to the truck to go around…but he won’t pass you.
More roaring up behind, and then, thankfully, he goes around..the engine
raging, flying past……and then it gets scary.
The truck pulls ahead, shoots down the road…and stops. Right in the road, in the
dark, in the countryside, it stops and the driver begins to flash his tail-lights and waits
for you……..
That is when, working as a team, your driver throws the car into reverse, you
spot a dark farmhouse with a truck parked near the dark barn…you give your
driver help seeing the drive behind you and you
back into the drive and up near the house….you sit and you watch, and finally,,,
the truck from Hell drives slowly on.
That is when you turn to go back the way that you came and fly down the
road to the safety of town, hands and arms shaking…and eventually……..
you are home….car quickly tucked into the garage, the garage door slides
down and you are safe.
Both of you are quiet….did this really happen????
Yes it did. Last night.
TEN THINGS TO CONTEMPLATE WHILE KITE SURFING…
Had fun last week watching feats of “daring-do” on the high seas!
These kite surfers are amazing!! When I first saw them doing this, I thought they
were holding on to the kites with their bare hands….DUH….the kites would have
been gone in one second flat……this has to be the most amazing feeling!
Now I thought about how it would actually feel, and what my thoughts at that
moment would be, and here they are….
1. I AM GOING TO DIE….
2. DOES MY REAR END LOOK SMALLER WHEN I’M HIGHER OFF THE GROUND?
3. THIS HELMET IS GOING TO RUIN MY HAIR.
4. DID I FORGET TO FEED THE CAT THIS MORNING?
5. I WONDER HOW LONG IT WILL BE UNTIL THEY FIND MY BODY?
6. I JUST KNOW MY HUSBAND IS GOING TO REMARRY WITHIN SIX MONTHS.
7. DOES IT REALLY FEEL LIKE YOUR HITTING CONCRETE WHEN YOU HIT THE WATER AT HIGH SPEED?
8. WHILE THE PLASTIC SURGEON IS REPAIRING MY FACE, AFTER LANDING, I WONDER IF HE COULD DO
LIPOSUCTION ON MY THIGHS?
9. DARN……. I FORGOT TO USE THE BATHROOM BEFORE I LEFT THE HOUSE.
10. IF I JUST LET GO FOR ONE SECOND, I CAN REACH THAT CANDY BAR IN MY POCKET…
