WELL THAT JUST LOOKS AWKWARD…

Sometimes youve just got an itch

Ahem…and now for a little “rap”…

When you’ve got that itch and you just can’t shake it
You do what you’ve gotta do to elim-in-ate it

SHA-BOOM!, DOT-DOT-DOT-DOT-DOT, SHA-BOOM!, DOT-DOT-DOT-DOT-DOT

Twist your head way back, lift your leg up high
just be careful that you never kick yourself in the eye

SHA-BOOM!, DOT-DOT-DOT-DOT-DOT, SHA-BOOM!, DOT-DOT-DOT-DOT-DOT

If that doesn’t do it and for relief you are stuck
just turn around and bite yourself in your very own (butt)

(sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, it rhymed you know?)

SHA-BOOM!, DOT-DOT-DOT-DOT-DOT, SHA-BOOM!, DOT-DOT-DOT-DOT-DOT

This is where I stopped shooting images because Joe was lurching right at me, while he was trying to avoid slipping into the pond…This is also when I was wondering if I was going to be squished under a VERY heavy horse.

See…no image….you’ll just have to picture me frozen in place…waiting for my fate.

RELAX?….

I need to learn to relax….I’ve been in Florida for the last week and a half…..have I been sitting under a palm tree sipping a beverage with a little umbrella in it?…..now you should know me by now…..I’ve been running around with my camera, discovering new animals to photograph.
Sigh…..Am I a type “A”?….I always thought I was a type “Lazy”.

Sorry about the encoding at the bottom of the images….I am not sharp enough this morning to figure out how to remove it, leaving the images…I’ll do better..

HEY BOB, STOP BITING ME!…

O.k. first I want to thank El Guapo….As a lot of you know, I’ve been struggling with adding links to my posts…Guapo rode to the rescue and I think he saved me!  I can now link to other sites…Hip, Hip, Hooray!!  Hip, Hip, Hooray!  THANK YOU GUAPO!!!!  IT WORKED!    IT WORKED!   IT WORKED!!!!!

So, now…an explanation for the title of this post…

Yesterday I went over to see Melvin, He celebrated his 85th birthday while I was in Florida!!  I took him his present, a calendar that I made featuring pictures of “the Boys”……and I also took some prehistoric horses teeth that I found in Florida while shark tooth hunting…I KNOW these are horses teeth, they were pretty easy to identify.

After we visited awhile, I went outside to visit the Boys before he put them into the barn for the night….it was COLD!!   COLD wind, beautiful sky, but COLD!!

The horses are always a little rowdier when they’re hungry and it’s cold out…..I had to laugh because Bob kept coming up to me….stretching his neck WAYYY out to me and curling his lip back and showing me all of his ugly teeth!!   He did this several times..when that didn’t get the desired results he started ever so subtly nipping at me……my arm, the side of my leg…THE CAMERA!!…every time I took my attention away from him and took shots of the other horses, I felt a little tug on my coat sleeve…he got more and more determined and I finally had to put my finger on on his big bony forehead and say NOOOOOOOO…was he impressed…NO HE WAS NOT!

After about ten minutes of this silliness, he gave up on my and started in on his buddy Mac…FINALLY, the reaction he was looking for!  I think if was just play time and I don’t know how to play!!

BLUEBIRDS AND MAGIC HORSES

Today was one of those absolutely amazingly beautiful spring days……….WARM!!!
What better to do than to go visit the horses! Stopped in to speak with their
owner for a moment and then began my hike back through the fields to the ten
acre wood. They love to go back there for the fresh grass and they stay back there
pretty much all day. I had a nice long trek, during which I was side-tracked by
the discovery of a big piece of quartz that I tried to wedge into my pocket.

Once I passed through the gate, there were the boys! I’m going to drive you crazy
with another video..but at the start you can see that I was immediately spotted.
What a wonderful two hours I spent with them..At the end of that two hours
I was starting to consider eating my arm, so I decided to head back to the barn.
I didn’t get very far…I had noticed a small bird keeping an eye on me, while I
sat on the tire of an old piece of farm equipment watching the horses.

BLUEBIRDS!!!! I spent another forty-five minutes watching these beautiful little
birds…I have to go back, there were more than I have ever seen before, together in one
place. You know the old saying, “the bluebird of happiness”…they certainly were
the perfect ending to a cherished day.

“Being Bob”, part two.

Bob’s life is interesting to observe. For some reason, unknown to me, he is
low man on the totem pole of the herd. If it were up to me I would make him second
in command. Many, many times I’ve watched him
in the pasture off by himself grazing for a bite of grass that looks promising.

He is usually by himself, while the others usually travel somewhat together.
Joe usually has an entourage. Talk about the “King of everything”.
I’ve actually had a horse repeatedly step
between myself and Joe to prevent me from coming too close.

Bob on the other hand is a little more easy going. He does seem to have one
friend and that is Mac. Every so often they get together to “wrestle”. There’s
usually a lot of posturing and face-making…..a few well chosen insults that
are usually no worse than, “so’s your mama”, and “eat dirt”.

I know that I posted a little before about “being Bob”, but it seemed like
someone should really champion Bob and I decided what the heck, I LIKE
Bob, I’ll do it! He can join my herd anytime.

So here are a few more images of Bob. Three of these were taken on an
absolutely golden afternoon, and he does look more “golden” than normal.
He and Mac were having a good old time.
Lots of coaxing on Bob’s part, but eventually Mac decided to “rumble”.

The black and white I love, because Bob stopped and stared in the window
for a very long time. I like this because Bob definitely seems to have a sense
of self. I like to think that he is the most introspective of the
horses and most in touch with his feelings…now you know I’m just kidding
here right? Joe the head of the herd, might have been in the running for most
introspective, but he tried to push me once just to get an apple..

Last but not least, is Bob expressing his opinion of me and my opinions of him.

Best Buds

Come on,,,,play with me

Woo-Hoo.....RUMBLE!!

The Angel Horses

Still rummaging through images from previous adventures with the horses and
I found “The Angel Horses”.

Early one morning I decided to head over to the barn to see if I could capture
some good images of the herd. The light had been wonderful for the last week, and
I was kicking myself because I had gotten a late start. The sun was a little higher
in the sky than I would have liked, but by then I was enjoying the ritual of heading
out and getting my “equine” fix.

I spent some time watching the boys up in the front pasture, and then wandered around
the side of the barn. Standing as if they’d been waiting for me to arrive, were these two
beauties. They were soaking up the warm morning sun, standing close to the white barn.
In post-production, I decided to play with the exposure a little because the sun had been so
intense and I liked the over-exposed look it had given the original image.

Regarding the image with the two Angel Horses, let me know if you like the image that
is more over-exposed, or the one showing a little more of the yellow in their manes. Thanks!

Horse Talk

These two handsome fellows live very close to “The Eye and The Fly”.
I absolutely LOVE these guys..
There had been a LOT of teenage behaviour going on between Bob and
his buddy Mack. Joe is THE BOSS, and when he’d had enough of
their silliness he stepped in and let Bob know it was time to knock it off.

I have SO many images of this herd. Their owner is the nicest man and I’ll
always be grateful that he allowed me to spend hours and hours with the herd.

Before Joe puts a stop to the fun!
