MIGHTY JOE…
I had fun this afternoon. After too many hours of working on the computer, I needed a break, so I went over to visit Melvin and “The Boys”. Melvin is doing very well and tomorrow he’s going on an adventure with a friend of his. They’re going to go somewhere over in Amish Country to pick up some chickens for his friend and some “chicken nests”. I guess these are some kind of metal contraptions that hold the nest for the chicken and after they lay an egg, the egg rolls out into a little box type thingy…hopefully keeping the egg somewhat clean. ANYWAY…Joe gave me a moment of interest today..he came running at me and then stopped right in front of me to get a pat on the head…UNUSUAL!!
He also gave me this wonderful moment.
HORSES IN THE FOG…
I thought I should add a feeling of mystery to the blog today…probably because I’m SUPPOSED to be working on writing today….so I’m procrastinating and writing on the blog………..Hmmmmmmmm..seems we are out of chocolate..hence the inability to get to work.
WELL THAT JUST LOOKS AWKWARD…
Ahem…and now for a little “rap”…
When you’ve got that itch and you just can’t shake it
You do what you’ve gotta do to elim-in-ate it
SHA-BOOM!, DOT-DOT-DOT-DOT-DOT, SHA-BOOM!, DOT-DOT-DOT-DOT-DOT
Twist your head way back, lift your leg up high
just be careful that you never kick yourself in the eye
SHA-BOOM!, DOT-DOT-DOT-DOT-DOT, SHA-BOOM!, DOT-DOT-DOT-DOT-DOT
If that doesn’t do it and for relief you are stuck
just turn around and bite yourself in your very own (butt)
(sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, it rhymed you know?)
SHA-BOOM!, DOT-DOT-DOT-DOT-DOT, SHA-BOOM!, DOT-DOT-DOT-DOT-DOT
Ahem…my apologies for the “rap”…
ANGEL HORSE…
This image was taken last fall….but I found it the other day and thought I’d show it to you..this is one of the Angel horses from Melvin’s farm. The image hasn’t been manipulated…it was just a very foggy day.
HELLO JOE…
This is Joe, head of the herd…..
This is Joe, deciding that getting a drink out of the pond would be a good idea…
This is Joe, just as he’s discovered that he’s in mud and his feet are starting to slide…
This is where I stopped shooting images because Joe was lurching right at me, while he was trying to avoid slipping into the pond…This is also when I was wondering if I was going to be squished under a VERY heavy horse.
See…no image….you’ll just have to picture me frozen in place…waiting for my fate.
WHY CAN’T I HAVE HAIR LIKE THIS?…
In the first image, you will see Jack, showing off his lustrous, beautiful hair…..
In this second image you will see Jake, showing off his fabulous golden tresses…
I will not show you my hair which looks like straw…which horses love….but on my head…I do not.
IT WAS WORTH IT…
It was definitely worth the long walk back to the ten-acre woods to see “The Boys” yesterday…they love to go WAY to the back of the farm and hang out under the trees. When they saw me coming, they decided to come investigate who was trespassing in THEIR field…in the first picture, I really was THAT close…
After they had run past me and all the way up to the barn, they turned around to see what I was doing…I had continued walking back to the woods, I wanted to visit the pond. They walked ALL the way back to see what I was up to..
IT’S A FEELING…
Spending time, being followed around by “The Boys”…there are worse ways to spend your afternoon. They look really peaceful don’t they? Looks can be deceiving….if I moved…they moved…they wanted to know what I was up to at ALL times…
THE HORSES…
I stopped over to see Melvin yesterday…it was the first time in a number of weeks. (OH!..for all of you who are new to the blog…Melvin owns the herd of horses that I photograph…) Melvin seems to be doing well! I took a little basket with some Easter candy in it to him and I think he liked that…He had me open a large trunk that sits in his living room…he wanted to show me all of the little Easter decorations that his wife used to sit on the shelves at the house. She liked to decorate for all of the seasons and the trunk had all of her little treasures in it. He encouraged me to take things out of the trunk and I think he just wanted to see them again and share his wife with me a little..She died in 2001 in a car accident. He talked about her a lot yesterday….so sweet and we shared some sadness…It’s not the same thing at all, but I told him that my cat of 17 years, Zero, had passed on Thursday…and for some reason that triggered his thoughts of his wife.
I went out with him to put the horses in the barn for the night….he gets around very slowly…walker to the front door, walker to the steps on the porch…cane down the steps to his golf cart…a cane to open and close the door for the horses and then a walker once they’re inside. I go on ahead of him to the horses…he doesn’t want ANY help getting around, so I leave him to it…(I sneak a look every now and then to make sure he’s doing all right). I took a few quick shots while the horses were waiting for Melvin to get there and then I took one of Melvin…I JUST LOVE THIS PHOTO!!!!!!!
So following along the lines of my visit with Melvin…on this very special weekend, celebrate the love and the life that was given to us.
Love to you all….Zannyro.
SOMETHING ABOUT IT…
Why the “blue” in this image…I don’t know….but I like this anyway….the snow you see was just the beginning of what turned out to be a 10 1/2 inch snowfall…..
BLACK HORSE…
Did any of you out there ever read Walter Farley’s book “The Black Stallion”?……It became a great movie also….I LOVED this book when I read it many years ago, I own a copy still…..Well I photographed this horse last week…just took a few shots….but the same day I met a woman who actually knew Walter Farley, grew up with his family as family friends….little did I know that after the success of this first book, Walter Farley purchased a beach house in Venice!
So here’s a nod to the wonderful book, “The Black Stallion” and a love for horses…

Once again, no idea why it’s putting some of the code or tech jargon on here, but if I delete it I lose the image…so we’ll suffer together..
NO MATTER WHERE I GO…
Well…..I got back from Montana,,,to weather more snowy and cold than it was there! On my second little adventure look what I found…The minute I hopped out of the truck and walked toward the horses…Mr. Friendly came right over for a good pat on the back and a little conversation….since he seemed determined to stay planted in front of me, I decided that I may as well use his back as a “picture frame”. Lately it seems that no matter where I go, I find a horse.
“THE BOYS”…WAITING…
I LIKED THIS IMAGE….AND THEN I CROPPED IT, LEAVING JUST JOE…BOB MUST HAVE BEEN ON VACATION THAT DAY.
