HOW COULD I HAVE FORGOTTEN….
In my post about Reba, I forgot to mention something VERY, VERY important….she saved my daughter-in-law’s life this summer….She and Reba had gone hiking and they heard a noise at Jess’s feet….rattlesnake…before Jess could move, Reba attacked the snake and in the end was bitten twice. Jess carried her down the mountain and stayed by her side until she recovered…miraculous recovery actually, because Reba swelled up head to tail…and it was a hard fight to live…..was she there to protect Jess and now her job is done? I’ll never know, but always consider her a hero.
THE LOSS OF LOVE…
This is Reba….I know this isn’t the best shot, but it’s Reba…our Grand-dog…I grabbed it really quick when I visited my son and daughter-in-law in Montana just a month ago.
We had the chance to see our Montana kids yesterday….they had flown to Michigan, possibly to set down roots a WHOLE lot closer to home…only TWO hours away…instead of on the other side of the country……they called Saturday night and asked us to drive up to see them…we learned right away that the move wasn’t going to turn out, but it was SO GOOD just to lay eyes on them….
Later in the afternoon I learned that they had gotten a call the night before and Reba had run away from home. It had been a day and a half and she hadn’t returned …She has run away before, but always comes back…some dogs are just “runners”.
We left at the end of the afternoon and no call had come with word on Reba at that point…we got the call when we were almost back home….
Reba won’t be coming home, she was hit by a car.
Son and daughter-in-law won’t be home until two tomorrow morning…they will have waited since Friday to get back to reach Reba….
Reba was supposed to “retire” with us in the next few years….she was the sweetest thing….
Tears today, tears yesterday…I know there will be more…..Do you think people can feel virtual hugs??
The strangest thing….when I got out of the car, just after hanging up from talking with my son….church bells were ringing off in the distance.
So we mourn the loss of life ….the loss of love.
THE MONTANA DOG…
So now you’ve met Daisy, who wore me out, throwing pine cones for her to chase…we even put one in a tree, but she retrieved it….she belongs to the boy in Montana…or should I say, he belongs to her…My Grand-dog.
Notice the big tall black boots with the spikes in them up against the wall in the last image? Also the jackets and pants hanging on the wall?…Those are the accoutrements of a “Timber-faller”….”accoutrements”..Look at me using big words…la-dee-dah!
THE FESTIVAL DOG…..
I LOVE THIS GUY…..SURROUNDED BY PEOPLE….FOOD AND OTHER DOGS…..HE IGNORES IT ALL…HOW DO I LEARN TO DO THAT??

FAITHFUL AND TRUE….
I met this couple on the beach….she told me in no uncertain terms that she loves
the dog a WHOLE lot more than her husband…you meet the most interesting
people on the beach…
