CONDUCT UNBECOMING A LADY…
I guess I should forgive her not so ladylike behavior…She’s either just had a baby or babies, or she’s darn close and feeling cranky…She’s probably short on sleep…that’s the only way I can explain her sticking her tongue out at me…
QUADRUPLETS!!!!!!!
I have NEVER seen this before!! This doe has been bringing her offspring by each evening. I had assumed that she was the doe with the triplet bucks, but when I took the time to REALLY look at who was in the backyard, I noticed that there were FOUR and they are all “little girls”!!! They are looking for birdseed that I scatter in the grass for the birds..they love it!
STEP AWAY..
We’ve had an interesting group of visitors lately..We have a doe with her twins that comes and a doe with her triplets…It’s pretty interesting when they all meet up. I’m still trying to get a nice shot of the triplets with their Mother, but for now this will have to do.
I’m not sure who’s who in this image…I think this is one of the triplets meeting up with the Mother of the twins. Little baby isn’t very shy, and Mama isn’t very friendly. This was taken about three weeks ago..when we had much less green in the woods.

WHY IS EVERYONE IN A BAD MOOD?…
TODAY CLASS, NOW THAT WE’VE ALL HAD OUR MILK AND GRAHAM CRACKERS…A SHORT STORY BEFORE NAPTIME…
NOW EVERYBODY TAKE A LITTLE NAP AND THEN WE’LL GO OUT TO RECESS TO PLAY….(I’ve only had one tiny little piece of chocolate and some popcorn..I think it’s affecting my storytelling).
WHILE MOM WAS EATING BIRDSEED…
In my last post I showed you what “Mom” was doing…what I didn’t show you was what was going on behind her back…typical Sibling stuff….don’t worry, this is very normal for them and no one was hurt in the photographing of these images…as you can see in the last one…all returned to normal.
HEY GUYS, SHE’S HOME!….
I’ve been back from Florida two weeks or so and I think the deer have caught on that I’m here now. Just about dusk, they have started to come running around the corner of the house and after peering in the kitchen windows they linger at the edge of the woods.
LOOK I FOUND A PIECE OF CORN!!
PEEK-A-BOO!
MOVE ALONG LITTLE DOGGY..
I’M JUST GOING TO STAND AROUND LOOKING PRETTY..
I SEE YOU…YOU SEE ME..
I got a happy surprise this morning….I happened to glance into the woods and there were two deer getting ready to cross our little river, headed west……..around an hour and a half later, I looked out again and there were FIVE crossing back this way over the river…I’m really anxious for my new camera ring to arrive…that’s what snapped when my camera and tripod fell over and hit the wall….Holding an 80-400 mm lens mounted on the camera doesn’t make the chance of a sharp photo very likely…but I’m happy enough with these
THE GREEDY DEER COME TO CALL…
Trace and the triplets came to inhale all of the corn tonight…..so glad to see them again..it’s almost a nightly occurrence, but BOY can they eat!
PUT ON A HAPPY FACE…
A little surprise tonight…Rocket and Dash were back outside the window and
soon after they arrived, they were joined by Dapple….Dash’s sister….
Words were exchanged, everybody got mad…and went home….The End.
IT’S A SMILEY FACE!! RIGHT ON THE SIDE OF MY HIP!
Rocket did what any young one would do when embarrassed…….went to his room to sulk, and play video games.
THE RETURN OF ROCKET….
Dash has been hiding Rocket from me lately…haven’t seen Rocket in about two weeks…
and tonight, SURPRISE!, Rocket is back…..
MEET ROCKET….
This evening I got to meet someone VERY special! At first it was had to tell
what I was looking at, as the object seemed to be moving at the speed of
light…just a blur, streaking past the window…
Then….CELEBRATION !!! Dash finally brought her fawn to meet us…
and now you know why “baby” is named “Rocket”….
Of course, the moment that Dash saw me in the window…they were out of
there….not racing away,,but just being safe and leaving the area…
so today wasn’t half bad
MEETING FOR COFFEE?
I’m trying to figure out what was going on outside “the window”….
I’ve not seen the ninja squirrel in some time..so I have the feeling that I
can stay out from under the bed and resume normal life…
This gathering had me wondering …”Dash” the deer seemed to have
a lot to say, but the raccoons really didn’t care to listen. Gathering kernels
of dried corn is a demanding job, and if you’re going to get more than
the raccoon next to you, you have to be FOCUSED!
I was amazed that the baby raccoons jumped right in and knew just what to
do…there is no “learning curve” involved with eating. I wish I had a photo
to show you, but later they all formed a “conga-line” and danced through
the backyard…..I thought they only did that at weddings.
IT’S BABY SEASON….
NO HUNTING….
It’s a different kind of deer season….
I got so concerned about the new babies last year
that I had my Mother design this for me to put by the
road….
Am I a softy or what??
I’M DOING THE DANCE OF JOY…
TODAY IS A GREAT DAY!!
Just ignore me….I’m just happy because “Mama’s” (the three legged deer that my book is about),
daughter Dash showed up!!
Haven’t seen her in MONTHS and I was afraid she didn’t make it through the
winter…then this morning, THERE SHE WAS!! She was just hanging around down
by the sycamore tree, munching on leaves.
I was able to grab a little bucket of corn, open the door, and talk to her while I spread the corn.
It took her about a half an hour to wander up to get the corn, she’s forgotten me I think. She’s
more nervous than she was last year. She may be getting ready to have her baby though, so maybe
that’s why she’s more cautious.
The BEST news, while she was eating corn, up runs BALDY! They ate corn together
and here is the proof!
AND…IT’S RAINING! YAHOO!!!
GIVE THEM CHOCOLATE, THEY’RE IN A NASTY MOOD.
At the request of a fellow blogger, you know who you are Sonel…I am
posting this video of our regular visitors..They seemed to be having an
off night..almost no one was spared in this “rumble”..
I was all set to go out and referee, but at the last minute complete
and utter common sense prevailed. (I’m not that nuts yet!)
But then I looked out the window and they were glaring in at me and I
decided to go find some chocolate for myself.
TIMELESS
I’ve watched some videos recently that have been posted
about the tragedy that affected Japan just one year ago.
All one can think is: how fragile life is, how fragile life is.
How strong love is.
I have the highest respect for the survivors of this disaster and
the courage they display is beyond remarkable. The looks in the
eyes of those who were immediately affected that day…the
courage it takes for some to go on..I am humbled and wishing that
the sympathy and love that you feel in your heart for them could
go directly to their hearts…so that they could truly know that
others feel their pain, and wish they could take that pain away.
This blog entry was supposed to share some images with you that I
love. They are from moments in my life that I will always cherish.
The videos of Japan are a HUGE reminder to cherish those we love,
the good moments that we have, the blessings as we’re granted
another day to fill with love and hopefully laughter.
The last picture is of “Mama”, the star of my book…she is no longer
with us.
She will have a piece of my heart for ever and ever.
Here are some of my moments.
THE LITTLE BALD HEADED SQUIRREL GOES ON A SEARCH
As many of you know….lovely Nia is knitting a hat for my little bald headed squirrel visitor.
It is on it’s way to us….Nia has informed me it is coming all the way to the U.S.A.
This morning I saw a LOT of commotion in the back yard and decided to investigate….
This is what I saw…….
MIDNIGHT THE MIGHTY VIDEO
Another short little post…..Midnight the Mighty, along with Young Buck visited
us this entire winter…Such a thrill when he showed up…so without further ado,
may I present “Midnight The Mighty”.
