Once again, not the best shot ever, but I was fighting a very difficult camera..(it shouldn’t be)…and also, I just didn’t do well with this shot…BUT..

This is one of the adult bald eagles that watched over the eaglets they were raising. The nest was HUGE and someone told me it was estimated to weigh seven hundred pounds! Eagles mate for life, but if something should happen and a mate dies or disappears, they will find another.

An eagle is capable of carrying surprisingly heavy prey. I counted four small dogs, a cat on a leash and a very lean biker being swept up and into the sky…never to be seen again.

    1. OH NO! MAYBE THE BIKER IT CARRIED OFF EARLIER WAS THE LITTLE OLD MAN THAT RIDES DOWN THE SIDEWALKS RINGING HIS LITTLE BICYCLE BELL EVERY THREE FEET!!! HE MUST HAVE DROPPED THE BELL OFF THE BIKE AND NOW HE’S GOING BACK TO GET IT!!!

  1. Those are some scary looking talons — even scarier than some of the long acrylic nails I see women sporting. BTW I once saw a hawk flying with a snake in its beak. Hate to have that dropped on my head!

  2. That’s a very dynamic shot!

Are you sure the biker didn’t just fall into the granola silo at a commune farm?
    I’ve heard it happens…

  3. I love the intensity you captured in the eagle’s expression, but it’s the talons that really grab me. No pun intended.

    1. Thanks….I guess I’m having left over frustration venting…The camera drove me CRAZY…I had a terrible time finding my subjects in amongst the trees..lots of zooming in and out…in and out…the focusing was a NIGHTMARE!! Not at all an easy camera to use…I won’t put the type of camera on here..it does very well on so many other things…just not a camera for wildlife photography.
