CUTE?…..NOT SO CUTE?….
There’s a place near-by….a rookery….a safe haven for the birds to build their nests or to just perch for the night…I’ll probably have more images from here in the days to come….I just thought this little one was the cutest thing…it almost never stops clattering for it’s Mother to feed it…but occasionally there is quiet…just not for long.
I should mention, the resolution on these is not the fault of the camera..I was using my long lens, the 80-400, handheld….I still haven’t replaced my tripod that was broken in the fall that took place a month or so ago..

What a treat to see that baby bird! Love these photos. Even without your tripod you take some great shots.

I think this is one of those cases where the baby is so ugly, it’s actually kind of cute…

Fascinating that you managed to get such close ups… brilliant photos and such nice captures… a mom feeding her young is not always easy to capture… naturally you managed it… something special about you that nature allows you such wonderful photos…
February 11, 2013 at 3:21 pm
No,,,,not so special…these birds are just there….not TOO far away….there are other photographers there with MEGA lenses….just incredible HUGE! Must cost 10′s of thousands of dollars…I can only imagine the images they get…
February 11, 2013 at 3:23 pm
Oh the groups of “mine is bigger than yours”… I sit among them quite often at some of the bird hides… I think they laugh at my camera… listen to them talk about this lens and that lens.. I over heard a conversation of one talking of buying a new lens for his Canon R 117 000 he talks of… I’d be too scared to use it… actually I lie.. I wouldn’t know how to use it…
February 11, 2013 at 3:28 pm
LOL,, I know just what you mean….lots of the photogs at the rookery are decked out in FULL photographer garb…pulling wagons of equipment….I’m pretty bad, I walk in with my camera cradled in one arm and extra memory cards and batteries in my purse…lololol
