ALL YOU PEOPLE ARE CRAZY…
WELCOME TO THE LAND OF CRAZY PEOPLE!! O.k. I know that I’m probably offending some of you, those of you who are brave enough to strap two tiny strips of material to your feet and throw yourself off the side of a mountain. I apologize…but you have to understand..I am a great big chicken and the whole idea of this makes my toes curl up and yell “HELP ME MAMA ! “..( I am not making this up….I HEARD them screaming) actually it makes me want to lay down on the floor and superglue myself to the floor…I feel like I’m going to fall down just looking at these pictures.
My daughter-in-law took me up the side of a mountain to see a ski resort area…..as we climbed higher and higher I could feel my toes trying to grip through my boots and latch onto the floor of the truck.
You can see how crowded this area is…not much parking, so cars start to line the road way before you reach the parking area…..
Notice in the pictures the happy people lined up waiting to get on the chair lift….See the little crazy people riding the chair lift to the top?? Aren’t they cute?? Aren’t they CRAZY!!!??? Do you see the TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN ??? Where people are going to throw themselves off???
Do you see the picture with the people just standing at the top of a downhill area?? I think they were fighting over who was going to plummet to the bottom first…..
DO YOU SEE THE WOMEN WITH THEIR CHILDREN???? THEY ARE GOING TO LET THEIR CHILDREN THROW THEMSELVES OFF THE SIDE OF A MOUNTAIN!! Well, o.k., maybe down a little bunny hill….but still !!! Do you see the woman with the poor innocent baby strapped to her back??? The child has no say as to whether or not it WANTS to go down the mountain !!!! There should be a law that a child cannot throw itself off the side of a mountain until it’s old enough to talk, and can voice an opinion on the matter….
Do you see the scary mountain road that we had to drive DOWN ??? IT WAS ALL ICY AND EVERYTHING!!
The worst part is that the car that we had been following, had their windows rolled down….the smell of pot coming from their car was SO strong that it filled the truck that WE were driving in !! We started to have some concerns about “second hand smoke”…..my daughter-in-law was starting to wonder how she was going to explain to my son that she had taken me high up into the mountains and I had somehow gotten high…
All in all that ride up the mountain, turned out to be quite a “trip”.. (Now you know that I’m just kidding…about MOST of this)

Thanks for taking us with you on your adventure! And I agree, people are crazy lol
January 29, 2013 at 7:27 pm
So glad that you enjoyed the trip
January 29, 2013 at 8:14 pm
This explains a lot…..
Great pics and it looks like great fun to me!!

January 29, 2013 at 8:17 pm
Good Heavens…..skiing with a baby on your back. That’s really scary! Great photos of a whole different way of life. I suppose if you grow up with it, it’s normal.
January 29, 2013 at 12:22 pm
I’m sure it probably is normal…probably lots of kids started out strapped to Mama’s back
January 29, 2013 at 2:06 pm
It’s not the skiing you have to worry about.
It’s the stopping.
Or not…
hehehe
January 29, 2013 at 3:08 am
EXACTLY !!! I would keep on skiing into Idaho rather than try to put the brakes on!…….or have a tree put the brakes on for me !
January 29, 2013 at 2:26 pm
Hey, ski crashes wre a great way for me to meet girls!
(And have them never speak to me again…)
January 29, 2013 at 2:44 pm
I knew when I sent my last reply that you would have ski stories to tell…..post them please…
January 29, 2013 at 2:49 pm
It must be 10 years since I’ve skied at the Snow bowl. Looks like the road has gotten better and the crowds bigger!
January 29, 2013 at 1:28 am
LOL! Can’t imagine the ride when the roads were worse…
January 29, 2013 at 1:50 am
I guess if you grow up skiing, you learn the dangers quickly; but for a novice it can be frightening. I never mastered the snow nor the slopes, but have always enjoyed watching the Alpine skiing and Winter Olympics. My concern is making it safe for the children and those who have never tried it.
January 28, 2013 at 10:02 pm
I feel exactly the same way!
January 28, 2013 at 11:36 pm
Yep. Crazy. My motto: Never strap anything to my feet and expect it to turn out well!
January 28, 2013 at 8:47 pm
hehehehehehehe! And that includes small dogs and cats I assume..
January 28, 2013 at 8:50 pm
Anything means anything!
January 28, 2013 at 9:02 pm
hehehe!
January 28, 2013 at 11:38 pm
Today I’m a woman of few words so this is all I would say about the skiing thing and the baby on her back … “you can’t fix stupid.”
January 28, 2013 at 4:42 pm

January 29, 2013 at 2:49 am
in agreement about downhill skiing, cross country seems that it would be quite safe. maybe the lady with the baby on her back is going cross-country? hopefully so. my son goes snowboarding and snowmobiling, and I am always thankful when he comes home safe. Its not for me and never has been.
January 28, 2013 at 4:41 pm
I asked my daughter-in-law…and something about the things on her feet indicated that she DID intend to go downhill WITH THE BABY!! Yikes! I’m with you my son goes snowmobiling and I’ll post a picture of myself getting ready to take a VERY short ride..;;;
January 28, 2013 at 6:15 pm
scary! hopefully it was a low hill..
January 28, 2013 at 6:37 pm
Bigger than I’d be comfortable with!
January 28, 2013 at 8:00 pm
Beautiful pictures. What resort is that?
January 28, 2013 at 3:55 pm
It’s itty-bitty…Snowbowl in Missoula Montana..
January 28, 2013 at 6:16 pm
I worked at Big Sky near Bozeman one winter after a summer in Yellowstone. I have heard of the one in Missoula though.
January 28, 2013 at 6:34 pm
Ah!!!! You were in the REALLY gorgeous area!!….what a great experience you must have had
January 28, 2013 at 8:01 pm
I called it a “resort” for lack of a better word…..I’m not too familiar with the differences in snow destinations…I’m not even sure that it is technically a resort.
January 28, 2013 at 6:17 pm
My thoughts fascinate you… are you inside my head .?.. is it you I hear talking in there.??
January 28, 2013 at 12:29 pm
I’m STILL in there talking!! Yes,,,that nonsense you hear is me!
January 28, 2013 at 1:45 pm
I thought it might be you.. please stop that tap dancing…
January 28, 2013 at 1:47 pm
Lolololololol…..well alright…if you insist…
January 28, 2013 at 1:56 pm
That woman with the baby on her back… considering you people ride to the top of the hill and then throw yourselves off on two planks with no brakes… I wonder if she has a rope around the kid, and when in trouble she tosses it one side to act as some kind of anchor…??
I cannot believe people do this.. I might just as well run around naked in front of a pride of lion and pray that nothing goes wrong.. the first few circuits they will probably look at me askew and wonder, but sooner or later the are going to hurt me… that snow is going to do the same… heed my words…
January 28, 2013 at 12:27 pm
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL….stop giving me visuals on you running around .. ahem…”disrobed” in front of a pride of lions…lololololololol……Please be assured…I took these photos from inside a PARKED car…….I would NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER…go near a pair of skis!
January 28, 2013 at 1:47 pm
And I love the rope, anchor theory! lololol
January 28, 2013 at 1:47 pm
I made a 500 word comment here and nothing appears, I can’t believe it, now I must start again.?? WP do you think I’ve got nothing else to do.??? well you’re right…
Now I think you are a secret skier, you are crazy enough to do this, considering you wear a tutu on your head every now and then, you must be…
As for the pot smoke.. if it was so bad why didn’t you pull back.. or were you hanging out the window trying to sniff up as much of it as you could… went up the high mountain to get high…
Jokes to the side… the photos are brilliant , I just love the contrasting colours as well as the bright colours of the skiers.. now why do they wear colours of that nature.?? or is it when 5000 tons of ice in the form of an avalanche come tumbling down and covering them, that they hope the colours shine through from a deep…
WAKE UP YOU LOT.. that white stuff is snow, it’s cold.. when you see it stay in bed.. and if you get the urge.. take a half bottle of brandy or whiskey, or a bottle of wine.. and when you have finished it get back into bed with a half kilogram of chocolate (counters the hangover) and stay there… it’s cold outside… use your brain and stay in bed…
January 28, 2013 at 12:22 pm
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!! We DID have the windows rolled up…but we never thought about pulling back…lolololololol….maybe we were already feeling the effects!! I’m glad you liked the images….taken from inside the car…I wasn’t sure how they’d turn out…there was absolutely no place to park….and only a minute to stop the car and take a shot…..another car would be behind you in a second, wanting you to move along…..
I totally vote for your solution to getting the urge to be involved with snow and skiing……..I’m sure that you’re surprised that I’m not a secret skier…..but this girl is WAY too much of a “scaredy cat” to do it
January 28, 2013 at 1:52 pm
I couldn’t agree with you more Suzanne!! I went skiing once…….dislocated my knee and had to be carried down by the rescue people. It was very painful and very humiliating. I never went again!!
January 28, 2013 at 12:14 pm
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh….makes me shiver just hearing that ……It must have been soooooo painful…….
January 28, 2013 at 1:53 pm
It was, but it was the embarrassment that was the worst
.
January 28, 2013 at 3:59 pm
lololol:)
January 28, 2013 at 6:15 pm
I think that is what ski is though I never seen anybody skiing
a baby on the back. Because a nasty tumble could happen.
January 28, 2013 at 12:13 pm
Can you believe that she did that??? How could anyone think that it would be a good idea to do this with their baby??
January 28, 2013 at 1:54 pm
We don’t get snow here, so this amazes me!
January 28, 2013 at 12:13 pm
It is really something…..we get snow…but there are no mountains like this near us………….I just can’t believe that people go down and remain on their feet!!
January 28, 2013 at 1:55 pm
I’ve been skiing once and absolutely LOVED it. Now, seeing your beautiful photographs, I’m itchy to go again.
January 28, 2013 at 11:54 am
HAHAHAHAHA! I am in AWE of you!
January 28, 2013 at 2:01 pm
I think I would be too scared to slide down like that
January 28, 2013 at 11:50 am
I KNOW I’m too scared!!
January 28, 2013 at 2:01 pm
Ah , skiing. We skied as a family when the kids were in school and it was a great vacation. Everyone was outdoors, we didn’t have to spend every minute together, and then came back tired and hungry. We’d eat, play games or watch a movie and go to sleep. Now that I’m older and the kids aren’t skiing anymore.. I could easily leave it. We haven’t gone in about 4 years but my husband really misses it. So we’re going this year to Utah for about 4 1/2 days. I’ll try to do a bit each day and then find excuses to do something else. There’s still nothing like that mountain air and the crisp snow.
January 28, 2013 at 11:38 am
It has to be such an amazing sensation….wish I had the nerve, the skill to do it!
January 28, 2013 at 2:03 pm
He he he… I am same with you and can you imagine Himalaya is my dream too
But mountain atmospher, ambience, air, view, they are all amazing. Someone just can take me and put on the top
I can be lost at the top… I am glad you came back in safe dear Suzanne, and you captured so nice photographs. Thank you, love, nia
January 28, 2013 at 11:35 am
I can just picture you at the top of the mountains!! Queen of the world!!! xoxoxo
