SNOW DROPS…
Montana….I’ve never been there in the winter before. My first morning there, fog blanketed the valley and because of the very cold temperatures (15 degrees), and the higher than normal humidity, everything was covered with “crystals”..actually it’s called “hoar frost”, (thank you silliliss)..I missed my Nikon D300 terribly….(the resolution in the images shown here, isn’t what I’d like it to be) but after my experience with the tripod, camera and lens crashing over in a nice, dry, stable environment, I wasn’t ready to take them out to the mountains. These aren’t the greatest shots, but I had a great time…out in the quiet and the cold.

stunning snowflakes…..

Thank you!!

I always admire winter (from afar!) and the miraculous patterns frost and ice make are a special thrill, but your multi-melt crystal ball … that’s an image I’ll long remember
January 25, 2013 at 5:05 am

HA!! NO….I can’t blame it on a horse, just a careless “goose”..ME!!
January 24, 2013 at 11:26 pm
You sure know how to make cold look beautiful! Does this mean that your camera is fixed?
January 24, 2013 at 11:04 pm
I took a different camera….but I’ve just turned right around and travelled down to Florida and I brought the big camera with me..I think it’s fixed…I am SO lucky!!!!
January 24, 2013 at 11:24 pm
Oh good. You’re too masterful not to have the right equipment with you at ALL times.
January 25, 2013 at 9:09 pm
hehehe…More like OCD
January 25, 2013 at 10:18 pm
Those are cool. have never seen them. I went to Montana in November once and it was cold, but no snow.
January 24, 2013 at 4:18 pm
I hadn’t seen snow there on any trips previously…and the “hoar frost” doesn’t happen everyday..so I felt really lucky…three beautiful days!

January 23, 2013 at 4:51 pm
It’s funny, it didn’t seem so cold….but I think I was just so amazed by all of the beauty around me that it didn’t register.

January 23, 2013 at 3:36 pm
Who needs a Nikon D300 when your camera makes such captures… do you think the other would have given us a better image… I don’t think so… these are brilliant…
January 23, 2013 at 1:55 pm
Well thank you Sir !! I missed the “weight” of the camera in my hands….and there’s just some little difference…but I have used this camera and gotten some of my best shots of “the boys”.
January 23, 2013 at 3:39 pm
They look great … and hope you are enjoying your stay. …. and a video for your trip.

January 23, 2013 at 1:22 am
Water in its many forms makes fascinating subjects for photography.
January 22, 2013 at 10:43 pm
Definitely!
January 22, 2013 at 11:18 pm
I think your photos are good enough or very good

Resolution is only a small part in photography as I’m a fan
of pinhole photos
Hanging crystal ball looks great.
And I like desolated top, land scape —- its tone.
January 22, 2013 at 8:48 pm
Thank you
You’re right of course about resolution…a lot of my horse photos aren’t really, really sharp…but I prefer them that way.
January 22, 2013 at 10:18 pm
These are actually terrific. Love them and it does look cold.
January 22, 2013 at 8:32 pm
Thanks! It actually is colder here, back in Indiana!!

January 22, 2013 at 8:07 pm
awww..Thank you!!
January 22, 2013 at 8:09 pm
It looks a bit like hoar frost. Do your kids live in the mountains? I love the ice crystals.
January 22, 2013 at 7:59 pm
THAT’S what he called it !!!! They live at the foot of a mountain. I’m going to correct that in my post.
January 22, 2013 at 8:01 pm
I loooove hoar frost. We usually get a few good hoar frosts every winter here in Minnesota.
January 23, 2013 at 3:24 am
Sigh…..how beautiful to see more than once!!
