Your thoughts fascinate me........so go on....fascinate me.
in case of this photo I would choose decidedly the colour

I think the colour image has won this one
January 14, 2013 at 10:16 pm
Hmmmm maybe black and white more than color… they both look great though lol

Thanks!

I think that it rather depends on your aim. The coloured one looks sort of sunsetty (yes, I know that that isn’t a word – I like to experiment sometimes) but is perhaps a bit too orangey and not quite golden enough (just a touch of yellow in with the orange, or simply a bit less orange, could make it a bit more in my taste – but it’s just a personal opinion). I quite like the black and white version but there seems to be something missing from it. There is a lot of contrast between the background and the subject in the foreground but it seems a bit dull to me for some reason. It needs something, but I don’t know what – which is very helpful, I know.

Well, you did help… you put into words what I was feeling about the black and white….it does need something….

Add me to the color roster! There is something about the lighting in this photo that I really respond to. It’s a great photo.

Thank you! The color roster is gaining in numbers!

Color for sure on this one. Just sayin’

I think the colour adds to the ambience. The black and white makes it too harsh, I think, and takes away the reflective quality of the photograph. I look at the colour and I can see him thinking on life while smoking his cigarette.
January 10, 2013 at 12:27 pm
I think you’ve just said it beautifully….that’s how I felt when I saw him sitting there…he was reflecting…
January 10, 2013 at 12:31 pm
They both have good qualities…. and they both tell me something different…. but damn why are we now taking photos of men ?? have I missed something whilst I’m away…???

Lol! When I was in Florida this fall, waiting for a boat parade to start, this fellow just grabbed my attention…..however…husband has been getting a little bit “itchy” and would like to move into the city someday..POSSIBLY……he’s not quite sure…but we looked at a condominium in the heart of the city….don’t think I could do it…and he’s not really sure either..but it has kind of turned my world on it’s head…

I don’t know … that gorgeous rosy glow of the lowering sun seems to steal the show, while the black and white is a study of the man thinking, absent mindedly studying the tip of his cigarette.
January 10, 2013 at 3:45 am
I love how he’s studying the tip of the cigarette…

Woah, I thought I was on the wrong blog – you took a picture of a person LOL!! All kidding aside, I looked back and forth from colour shot to B&W shot, and I finally decided that it’s the B&W for me. I like them both though, so it was a hard decision
.

Lololololololololololololololol…..now then, I shocked you hmmmmm….we’ve contemplated moving into the city…no one would follow my blog if I did that…Up on the 9th floor I’d have to content myself with shooting images of clouds..
January 9, 2013 at 10:24 pm
How could you ever move away from the incredible wildlife right in your backyard?!?! You’ve got it made
.
January 9, 2013 at 11:01 pm
I know……..we didn’t realize that once we moved here,,,there was going to be an issue with letting go….I think I’ve convinced hubby to wait ahile longer…
January 9, 2013 at 11:04 pm
Phew!! You’d better keep working on him – remember, mind control is the key
.
January 9, 2013 at 11:09 pm
I think I may have bought myself another five years….
January 9, 2013 at 11:11 pm
I generally prefer black and white photos, but this one just screams “color!” to me for some reason. Maybe it’s the rich golden hue of the fading sunlight on him against the blue background. But either way, marvelous shot!
January 9, 2013 at 10:10 pm
Thanks Lorna! There was just something about his body language that got to me…..I do think I’m going to have to say that the color one is my favorite too…..
January 9, 2013 at 10:25 pm
I like black and white for photographs of people.. seems to show character more.
January 9, 2013 at 9:34 pm
Gets rid of all of the distractions
January 9, 2013 at 9:40 pm
that is very true.
January 9, 2013 at 10:07 pm
Hi,
I prefer the colour photo, colour seems to give more “life” to the picture.
January 9, 2013 at 9:30 pm
It’s definitely warmer..
January 9, 2013 at 9:40 pm
Oh dear – is your neck of the woods polluted by those creatures, too? They should be eradicated, because they spoil the environment for squirrels and stuff.
January 9, 2013 at 9:22 pm
I’m afraid it’s too late…they have taken over
January 9, 2013 at 9:23 pm
Have you tried laying down overdoses of fries? It gives a relatively painless and quick end from heart attack.
January 9, 2013 at 9:29 pm
Ohhhh..your cruel oh wise one!
January 9, 2013 at 9:40 pm
B&W
January 9, 2013 at 7:45 pm
B&W is winning
January 9, 2013 at 8:28 pm
Great pic.
I really like the color more.
January 9, 2013 at 7:25 pm
It had to be color for you….it’s just your personality:)
January 9, 2013 at 8:28 pm
B&W would be my vote.
January 9, 2013 at 7:23 pm
You’re going for the drama then……
January 9, 2013 at 8:28 pm
Definitely black and white.
January 9, 2013 at 7:10 pm
I stil can’t decide, LOL!
January 9, 2013 at 8:29 pm
Black and white for me.
January 9, 2013 at 7:04 pm
I think we have a winner…B&W is the definite favorite so far
January 9, 2013 at 8:29 pm
I prefer the color in this case. I love the warm glow in the gentleman and the contrast between the foreground and background. Lovely.
January 9, 2013 at 7:04 pm
This is a tough one for me…I like the color because of the tip of his cigarette…
January 9, 2013 at 8:30 pm
