THE BAT FLOWER


I saw this today and thought it was so gorgeous…the ” Bat flower”..

  1. Extraordinary, isn’t it? Its’ botanical name is Tacca integrifolia – we see them quite a lot here, though they’re native to the Malay peninsular, not Sri Lanka. There’s a variety with two pale, silvery mauve ‘ears’ – much larger than the black’s – that’s a little ghostly/spooky and is absolutely stunning – keep an eye out for it :)

    • It really IS called a bat flower! I went back to see it again..and made sure to look at the name….amazing…

  5. What an outstanding flower… it’s almost unbelievable… if it had a squirrel bouncing near by I would think it a hoax… but I see on Google there is such a flower group “Tacca” … this is just amazing… thank you for sharing… beautiful…
