Why did I never think of using a mattress as a party sign when we had all of those halloween parties?…….These are some creative people and I’ll bet the party was interesting.

Rest assured, I was not taken hostage……Just hanging around out in the sun, trying to get enough of sunburn on my neck in order to be admitted to the party………I’m not sure where this expression originated…..maybe it was a sort of snobbery toward people who had to labor outside to make a living and weren’t considered “cultured”….It sure stands for a lack of culture and manners now!
