The Gray Ballet…or..The Grey Ballet…
Just so that you know that I can spell gray…I looked it up… you use an “A” in gray in America, and an “E” in grey in Europe…Ta-Da!!
SO ON WITH THE POST…….I got dizzy yesterday….The nuthatches were putting on a ballet and it was very hard to follow the story line…there was so much swirling and twirling and loop-dee-looping that I think my eyes crossed…that could be why some of these images aren’t very sharp. I loved the images despite their flaws and decided to share them with you. So today class…we will study the various terms used in the world of Bird Ballet!

“TOUCHY THE TIPPY”S”…TECHNICAL BALLET TERM MEANING..”TO TOUCH THE TIPS OF THE WINGS TOGETHER IN A BALLET KIND OF WAY”.

The Nikon D300 with the 70-400mm lens…My Tried and True,,” Go To” camera
October 2, 2012 at 5:23 am
I just wonder with the difficulty of focus with the new camera… wonder if you had found a continuous focus feature on it…???
October 2, 2012 at 5:26 am
No…for shots like this, it just wouldn’t work…great for lots of other things..but I wouldn’t trust these to the coolpix.

No…for shots like this, it just wouldn’t work…great for lots of other things..but I wouldn’t trust these to the coolpix. However…the recent shots of the horses running toward me were all done with the coolpix set on it’s “sports” setting…so for that type of shot, it’s been just tremendously responsive.
October 2, 2012 at 5:32 am
I just knew there had to be a setting for that type shot… didn’t have enough time for testing that setting … awaiting my new camera.. will arrive in Pretoria soon and In still stuck 600 km away for another 10 odd days…
and boy is the internet here a pain… I get probably a half hour and that’s all… missing the city for that reason…

Birds really are, aren’t they!
October 2, 2012 at 4:13 am
Theatre, drama, action, artistry, technical difficulty and stamina, the pivots, twists and turns of the plot are clear to see, the attention to detail in costume portraying flight is without equal…
…. the only thing is that this ballet has a small failing in, is that the object of the Principle dancer’s desire is a humble peanut, would not pumpkin seeds or sunflower seeds be a little more highbrow and befitting , given the exquisite costume design and choreography???
October 1, 2012 at 11:48 pm
Oh my!! Such high praise!! I must talk with the director and see if we cannot find a more suitable object of desire for our dancer’s……..this could be SO exciting
Thank you dear ballet patron for bringing this to my attention….the only obstacle that I can foresee to a change is the same problem that most every ballet has….we are on a tight budget……( those fancy costumes don’t come cheap you know!!)

Okay, for next time….I’m thinking video. Set to the music of The Blue Danube, of course. Best music for a bird ballet next to Swan Lake.
