MELVIN, BOB AND THE HERD GIVE AN INTERVIEW….
BIG, BIG, BIG EXCITING NEWS……A reporter from our evening paper contacted me and wanted to do an article on Melvin and the horses! In short order I had talked to Melvin and he agreed to it…..within days the interview took place…on Monday to be exact..Melvin was SO  excited, he was a LOT more animated than he had been…Beauty, his beloved farm dog, is dying…so having something to lift his spirits was SO beneficial…
Cindy L., our wonderful new friend from the newspaper, met me at a convenient location and followed me to the farm…She will now be known by the alias..” Lois Lane”.
Lois is a VERY smart reporter, she brought along a bag of apples for the herd and she was an instant hit with them!
After the apples had been shared and enthusiastically devoured, the interview began…
By the time the interview was finishing up, Bob had fallen in love with Lois and was making his feelings known..
I think that Lois has at least a little crush on Bob….after all…..she braided his forelock for him! Â Â The article should come out next week and if I can figure out how to do it, I will provide a link for those of you who want to know a little more about “The storybook farm”…at least that’s what I call it.

What a sweetheart lol

Thank you! Such a wonderful experience…luckily I took my camera with me…I almost didn’t…what was I thinking??
September 20, 2012 at 7:59 pm
Hi Suzanne, Thanks for introducing me to Melvin and the Haflingers. Love those horses, and you are right, Bob certainly does have quite a personality. So funny how he kept hanging around after the apples were gone and all the other horses went away. And Melvin … I’ll never forget his big grin when I pulled up. I think he was pleased to have the company and the attention.
September 20, 2012 at 6:22 pm
Dear Lois Lane…He was SO happy to have you there…I still can’t get over Bob hanging around like that…he almost NEVER does that
I still think he’s developed a crush on you…When I gave him apples and ran out…he pulled his lips WAY back…stuck his neck out towards me and showed me all of his teeth…he kept that up for quite awhile….much different reaction with you, LOL.
Thanks again,,SO MUCH…for coming out!!
September 20, 2012 at 7:13 pm
Fantastic! you need to take some photos of Beauty, you will take photos to cherish, they will be gorgeous as all your photos are and he will be glad to have them later. Lois is definitely crushing on Bob, a braid? Oh yeah…
September 20, 2012 at 6:10 pm
LOL…..Lois just sent a comment…so hopefully she sees your remark…LOL…..I do have some pictures of beauty and I will definitely be giving them to him….they aren’t the best, but they’re nice and I think he’ll want them.
September 20, 2012 at 7:15 pm

September 21, 2012 at 2:58 am

September 22, 2012 at 11:29 pm

September 20, 2012 at 9:18 pm
Bob and Melvin are getting to be quite the celebrities. You must be enjoying what you started. I’m really pleased for Melvin. Isn’t silly that I feel like I know him just because I read what you write?
September 20, 2012 at 1:50 pm
LOL! No it isn’t silly to feel that way…gosh, what a compliment…I would be so happy to think that I’ve given a somewhat accurate depiction of what Melvin is like…he’s wonderful…I really am enjoying what is happening…I love that Melvin is experiencing all of this, and I can see how proud he is of his horses when he gets to show them off….it’s just such a rewarding experience for me….I feel really, really lucky.
September 20, 2012 at 2:02 pm
Cheers to you for bringing the parties together!

That’s great! Don’t forget to post the link
September 20, 2012 at 9:51 am
I definitely will
September 20, 2012 at 1:10 pm
Wow, you’re getting lots of fame! Now all you need is a spot of fortune to go with it.
Glad Clark Kent didn’t try and muscle in on the act.
September 20, 2012 at 8:20 am
You’re right! Where that’s fortune that’s been eluding me, LOLOLOLOL…….I really think that it’s more that I’m bringing Melvin a bit of fame…..and he’s just loving it
…..If Clark Kent had tried to muscle in on this I would have had Joe the horse, the one eating the apple distract him…Joe’s THE BOSS and you don’t mess with Joe..LOL!
September 20, 2012 at 1:13 pm
Joe catches speeding HIGH VELOCITY bullets in his teeth – and then spits them back!
September 20, 2012 at 4:42 pm
Oh yes…..you don’t mess with joe!
September 20, 2012 at 7:16 pm

September 20, 2012 at 5:27 am
HI!!!!
Gosh! That’s wonderful!!…..make sure to order them through Amazon…I don’t have paypal set up on my site any longer….they will send you paperback versions…If you would like a hardcover version, you can let me know and I’ll order them for you…but they’re much more expensive and take longer to receive….. Bob is a love and I think you’ll enjoy the pictures of him interacting with the rest of the herd
Thanks! Suzanne

September 20, 2012 at 3:58 am
LOLOLOLOL! Well …. what to say?? Thank you…..I’m going to have bragging rights also…..I’m ALREADY bragging on you and your amazing creation
September 20, 2012 at 4:05 am
And now I’m going….hmmmmmmm..a movie……..that movie would probably be about how my daughter-in-law was hiking in the mountains yesterday and her dog got between her and a BIG rattlesnake….She carried that dog down the mountainand has been with that brave dog at the vet’s for the last 24 hours….now there’s a great “girl and her dog story” …
September 20, 2012 at 4:07 am
Wow there’s a book there too… hope the Dog survives… a bloody hero if you ask me… no wonder I love dogs more than anything else… even chocolate…
September 20, 2012 at 4:10 am
I think Reba is going to make it….heavily sedated and under constant care…..very tough day for the daughter-in-law and Reba the hero…………yep, dogs ARE better than chocolate……
September 20, 2012 at 4:15 am
This is all so heartwarming and congrats – lots of them – for your book signing. Can’t wait to see the link for the article. Can I have YOUR autograph?????
September 20, 2012 at 2:57 am
LOL!! Silly girl
September 20, 2012 at 3:55 am
Suzanne, I’m so happy for you that this is working out so well. I’m really looking forward to the link to the article. And the best part is the joy that you’re helping to bring back into Melvin’s life (and our lives as well). Thank you once again.
September 20, 2012 at 2:42 am
Awwwwwwww..Thank you for such kind words……..I really did feel a LOT of joy when I found out that she wanted to interview Melvin….To think that at 84 years old, going on 85 this kind of excitement could be happening must be so much fun for him……I thought that writing the book, would hopefully make people laugh, think, and feel better about themselves…I never dreamed that it would impact Melvin in such a positive way….I’m a little apprehensive because she is going to mention the fact that I’m having a book signing a week from Friday, and I don’t want anything to take away from Melvin and the horses…..
To think that these posts bring joy to my readers is really a little overwhelming……Thank you for such a wonderful compliment
September 20, 2012 at 2:48 am
How cool is that? I want Bob’s autograph.
September 20, 2012 at 2:03 am
LOL!! I don’t know if we can arrange that…maybe I’ll try to get a hoof print tomorrow..It’s supposed to rain and I can follow him around and make a copy of his print.
I also rescued some of his hair after the grooming and I’m going to make little “braids” using Bob’s hair….
September 20, 2012 at 2:07 am
LOL – I had a mustang when I was a kid and I tried to make bracelets out of her tail hair after grooming her. My mom was not so impressed.
September 20, 2012 at 2:10 am
LOL!!
September 20, 2012 at 2:16 am
