THE PICKY BLUE JAY…

I was watching for squirrels at the bird feeder…the birds were just going crazy over the peanuts..and it didn’t take long for the blue jays to arrive. They were zooming in and out..making their peanut selections and flying triumphantly away with them.   One blue jay flew up and landed on the bowl…and I was dumb-founded…I don’t know why I waited so long to fire off a shot..but it was  CARRYING A PEANUT IN IT’S BEAK!!!!….It was RETURNING the peanut!!!!!!!’ I have never seen this, EVER!!!!

In the pictures you will see the blue jay after it has just arrived.. with the peanut in its beak….that’s the apparently defective peanut…in the next image you will  see a peanut on the far side of the feeder placed standing up against the edge of the bowl, that is the sad, rejected peanut…Next image… The blue jay has the newly selected peanut in it’s beak!

EXCUSE ME MISS…MISS !! I’D LIKE TO RETURN THIS PEANUT!!

  2. Amazing! I suppose times ARE recorded on the pic file? Otherwise it might be thought by anyone you reported it to that they simply run in reverse order, and there was no ‘return’.
