TIME FOR TRUE CONFESSIONS…
O.K…………………………….
So here’s the thing……………..about the squirrel..There IS a bald-headed squirrel.
The problem is, he’s just too fast for me, for Peanut Butter and for Jelly.
SO……………………………on the advice of Council (you know who you are Sonel),
I’ve decided to come clean about the squirrels appearing in the Squirrel-O-Mentary.
A while back, but AFTER, I had already discovered the bald-headed squirrel and Nia
had knitted and sent the hats, something occurred.
Quite a few people here in my little world, knew about my plans for Baldy…Someone let
me know that they had “taxidermy” squirrels that they were going to get rid of.
I couldn’t stand the thought that these little squirrels were going to be gotten rid of.
They were possibly going to end up in the trash and there was NO WAY, I wanted that to
happen.
SO………………………….I gave them a home….They are my “Rescue” squirrels.
It took awhile for me to get over my aversion to their “condition”, but now I feel very
fond of them..they have their own little cabinet that they live in.
I told my husband that they were not going to have died in vain..actually, I stood right in
front of both he and my daughter and told one of the squirrels that they were going to have “long” lives.
I told it that it was going to have a long life making people happy. It sounds weird, I know,
but as a child I couldn’t go to sleep unless all of my dolls were covered up under their
little blankets. The blankets couldn’t cover their noses, because then they wouldn’t be
able to “breathe”. So now you know THAT about me.
SO………………………….that’s the story…I’m going to sit here and hold my
breath..waiting to see if you all hate me because of this deception….I almost died from lack of oxygen waiting
to hear back from “council”, hoping she would still speak to me. Not her fault, she didn’t
know I was holding my breath.
I’m glad I told you…I feel a little better now…..BUT….can the story continue?
P.S. Poor Jelly,,he came home for the Easter weekend..I had put a note on the cabinet
warning everyone NOT to open the cabinet if they didn’t want to freak-out..I also
wrote squirrel on the note..well, while I was out to dinner the note fell off the cabinet,
Jelly opened it and nearly had a heart attack…TWO squirrels were looking out at
him…because I feed the wildlife, and we actually HAD a little squirrel get in the
house once he thought they were real…poor Jelly..I felt kind of bad.
I don’t think that any of us was fooled. We were all just playing “pretend”.

Yes, you can put your mind at ease….none of them are “real”, so no animals will EVER be hurt in these little stories!

“Poor Jelly” is right! That would have startled me no end — and given me a good laugh, too! There’s no need to reveal more of your secrets. David Copperfield will never disclose how he makes the jumbo jet disappear and you needn’t tell us how you shave a squirrel’s head while he sleeps.

I was actually impressed you managed to get hold of a stuffed squirrel, now I’m even more impressed.
Don’t give up on the squirrel stories, they are magnificent, and a very good way to start off the day.
I would of loved to have seen the look on Jelly’s face when that cupboard door was opened.

Don’t worry kiddo….I think most of us knew the original photo of Baldy was for real but the “supporting cast” in the rest of the story were really “bit actors” making a buck on the side!! It was nice of you to give them a life beyond decorating someone’s wall (or the inside of a garbage can!!)…..and the story has been FABULOUS to follow regardless. Confession is good for the soul though so now that you’ve “fessed up” you should work on that book!!! Tee Hee

Suz…that squirrel didn’t move, either you have a very fast (and I mean fast) shutter speed or he/she was stuffed or he had a lot (and I mean a lot) of Xanax. You didn’t need to come clean, I think most of us had figured it out, but I am glad you feel better. And I’m glad you rescued them and I agree those taxidermy animals are kind of freaky although yours is really cute with the crown and hat. Such wonderful entertaining creativity. Thank you.

Sweet Marie, I have to share this with my friend Backwards Nancie. She has a taxidermy squirrel that she has adorned. I don’t know why a taxidermy squirrel should make two people friends. But then…I don’t know why not.
You are a brave woman. Those taxidermy squirrels kinda freak me out. So do taxidermy turkeys, one of which resided in my house for a long time and freaked me out on a semi-daily basis.
