FOR POETRY FANS AND FANS OF THE LITTLE BALD-HEADED SQUIRREL.
O.K. I realize I’ve been a little lazy this week…and so far nothing has changed…
Well, I must retract that statement…HUGE…and I mean HUGE amounts of preparation
have gone into construction and design for the little bald-headed squirrel saga…..
i CAN ONLY TELL YOU THAT ENORMOUS AMOUNTS OF PEANUTS WERE INVOLVED…I can also only
tell you that my brother-in-law stopped by and my niece, and they are totally convinced
that I have lost my mind….I told my brother-in-law to be properly respectful. He
was involved in a process that, at that moment, I was sure was not occurring
ANYWHERE else in the world.
My niece commented on the fact that I can get people to do
the oddest things..She wondered why I start doing these WAY out there things,, and
people just get drawn in, even when they don’t want to…I said it’s because people
like to have fun…and I threaten to start dancing in a public place when I’m with
them if they don’t help me.
I can also only tell you that is worth the price of admission to watch the expression
on my husband’s face as I proceed with my preparations..He keeps saying, “it won’t work,
it won’t work” and then he is amazed WHEN IT DOES WORK! He is my biggest supporter
and he still cannot fathom how he went from marrying a sweet little girl so many
years ago, and ended up being married to, as I humbly like to call myself…
“A FORCE OF NATURE”..heehee. Humble is my middle name…
Within hours the task force will gather, and the peanuts will be deployed..I am
beside myself with wild anticipation!
My last exhalation of hot air will be dedicated to sharing this story for poetry lovers…
and people who just like “quirky”.
When in New Orleans, oh….let’s say a year ago, we were wandering the streets and came
upon this wonderful fellow…you gave him your money and “presto-change’o”, you
had yourself some original poetry.
Hope you all are now frustrated beyond belief with not knowing what is happening with all of
the peanuts! Have a great Weekend!

THE BIRDS AND NO BEE, JUST A FLOWER
I had a few friends stop by yesterday..The blue jays
came back and I love these two pictures…First he captures the peanut, (I got
that shot). The next shot I get…just his shadow!
The orchid I wanted to post just because I love this image..I have it enlarged and
SUN AND FLOWERS……….
I know these aren’t traditional spring flowers, but I just love them
MY VISITOR
Just a tiny little post….This amazing creature has become a regular in the woods..
A Pileated Woodpecker! They are 16 to 19 inches tall…and are amazing to watch…We
may even have two in the neighborhood…………
THE SENTINEL…..AND DO I HEAR A TIPPY TIPPY TOE?
Today I feel like I really accomplished something! While I wasn’t looking, the woods silently
crept up on the guardian of my little nature sanctuary. Last year I realized that my beloved
sycamore tree had been captured and claimed by the woods! I have watched “Mama”,the three
legged deer rest under this tree. One afternoon, I watched “the girls” and little baby tri
stand under the sheltering arms of the sycamore and try to decide if it was safe to
approach me..(they did).
This tree just holds a special place in my heart. When I reflect on things in my life.. whether
I’ve been near or far, I like to think that I’m always standing in it’s watchful, protective
shadow. It simply represents home.
So TODAY,,,I reclaimed it from the woods! It now stands apart, just a bit, so that all who
see it knows, this tree is something special…
So here are some images of my beloved woods…
And a little hint of things to come….
Do you see the nest being cradled in the branches of the sycamore?
Guess who lives there….
Let’s all whisper it together….the little bald-headed squirrel.
Even now, I am tippy toe-ing around…so that you can’t hear me…making my little
preparations for the crowning of the little squirrel with THE HAT! And the SECOND hat…
and the THIRD hat…do not give up on us…the fun is about to begin

YOU’VE ALL GONE CRAZY….BUT I LIKE IT!
Well, here I am again…at a loss for words (which you know won’t last), staring six awards in the face!!!!
My mind has been running in circles, (which I must thank you all for, as it doesn’t get much exercise). Where to begin?

Nia!!! DO NOT MISS HER BLOG! http://photographyofnia.wordpress.com
O.K. here goes….Seven random things….
1. I wish my husband and my daughter would quit hounding me to paint my nails…I’m handling a camera all of the time,
that polish is NEVER going to stay on..
2. I buy silly toys all the time and then think of someone that I can “surprise” with a goofy gift.
3. I chipped TWO teeth this week eating an apple.
4. My dog is beginning to love my daughter more than me, because she keeps having to “dog-sit” him and now he always
want to go home with her.
5. I spilled water all over myself three times yesterday and then a whole bag of popcorn..hmmmmmmmmmm
6. The next time I fly I might actually buy a glass of wine..but if I did that, I’d still be asleep, drooling on the
poor person sitting next to me when we landed. The thought of that stops me every time and I just end up buying
“pringles”.
7. I’m doing a speaking engagement for 65 people tomorrow and I can feel the terror building..CHOCOLATE!!!!!!!!!!
NOW….SEVEN BLOGS THAT I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
1. http://pigletinportugal.wordpress.com
Love it!
2. http:/anthropometaphors.wordpress.com
Puppy day…how can you resist?
3. http://richardtulloch.wordpress.com Great images, great info.
Go visit!
4. http://namibsands.wordpress.com Game preserve, flowers, and

and info on problems with WordPress!
5. http://mymorningchocolate.wordpress.com YUM !!! FOOD !!! RECIPES!! YUM!!
6. http://artblablablablog.wordpress.com SO CREATIVE! Check out the Art!
7. http://youvebeenhooked.wordpress.com Observations from a first hand observer
of those who travel as they come and go..LOL
NOW….I LOVE YOU ALL!!! BUT…..AND THIS IS A BIG BUT…….(laugh amongst yourselves)..you’ve been too kind and I feel
richly blessed by all of these awards…but like Meryl Streep, it’s time to let somebody else have the stage..Don’t hate me..
still come see me…just AWARD me with you presence!!
IT’S HERE!! IT’S HERE!! THE HAT IS HERE!!!!
I have to sit down,,,I can’t catch my breath……..It’s here! It’s here, it’s REALLY HERE!!! I got the call that a package had
arrived…all the way from ISTANBUL!! Dear Nia,,,,you caused much
joy and laughter! After all of the anticipation, the package did
not contain what I expected…..
Not a hat……THREE HATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AND DIFFERENT SIZES, AND BEAUTIFUL VIBRANT COLORS!!! They are SO
pretty!! Nia you did too much and so quickly…your heart is SO
BIG!!
So now my task begins……..the planning begins,,,my daughter will
come tomorrow and we will start persuading the little bald-headed
squirrel to do a fashion show for us….I’m not sure what time the
little bald-headed squirrel throws himself out of bed..It won’t
take him long to get up and get about his day..after all, his house
is very tiny..almost nothing to clean..
I’m sure he’ll want to read the morning paper, and perhaps have a cup of
hazelnut coffee..but after that..I believe we’ll be able to begin our
“squirrelomentory”. No “documentary” for us, no sir, the last time I tried
to put a hat on a Doctor he got quite irate. Mumbled something about
“inappropriate” and actually threatened to stick a tongue depressor in my ear.
I digress….we will approach this with all due caution and respect
regarding “Eddie” the bald-headed squirrel. No animals will be harmed
in the making of this squirrelomentory, and in most cases, parental
advisories will not need to be recommended.
Now I caution each and every one of you…do not laugh at the images you
will be seeing. Do not throw popcorn at your screen or talk on your cell
phones. If you do not have an attorney, one will be appointed for you..OH..
I digress…..
Now please, no whining, no drunk-dialing demanding to know when the next
installment of the squirrelomentary will be aired…this is not downtown
abbey you know..We have class and dignity.
So for now……LET ME JUST SAY……THANK YOU NIA!!! YOU HAVE MADE MY
LIFE COMPLETE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
REFLECTIONS OF TIME
Imagine holding a crystal globe in your hands that contains all of the colors of a golden
day. The colors shimmer and glitter inside of the globe. It almost seems as if a whisper of the wind
could scatter those colors and carry them to each and every heart.
You can see from my earlier posts, that I saw such colors and felt that whisper of the wind. These are the colors, can you feel the wind?
BLUEBIRDS AND MAGIC HORSES
Today was one of those absolutely amazingly beautiful spring days……….WARM!!!
What better to do than to go visit the horses! Stopped in to speak with their
owner for a moment and then began my hike back through the fields to the ten
acre wood. They love to go back there for the fresh grass and they stay back there
pretty much all day. I had a nice long trek, during which I was side-tracked by
the discovery of a big piece of quartz that I tried to wedge into my pocket.
Once I passed through the gate, there were the boys! I’m going to drive you crazy
with another video..but at the start you can see that I was immediately spotted.
What a wonderful two hours I spent with them..At the end of that two hours
I was starting to consider eating my arm, so I decided to head back to the barn.
I didn’t get very far…I had noticed a small bird keeping an eye on me, while I
sat on the tire of an old piece of farm equipment watching the horses.
BLUEBIRDS!!!! I spent another forty-five minutes watching these beautiful little
birds…I have to go back, there were more than I have ever seen before, together in one
place. You know the old saying, “the bluebird of happiness”…they certainly were
the perfect ending to a cherished day.

ZERO THE INCREDIBLE!!
Well……….because I am feeling a little lazy …and I’m running low on chocolate,
I’m going to post a video that only two of my fellow bloggers have seen before. This video
was made a while back and features my son as the ring-master and our cat “Zero”.
He has enjoyed doing this as long as we’ve had him, and he
will be sixteen years old in a few weeks…This video runs about three minutes..Make
sure that you watch until AFTER it says, The End..he has one last moment.
Enjoy!
BUT I LOVE YOU!!
And now for something a little entertaining. Something that makes you
sit up and say……..THANK GOD I DON’T LIVE IN A TREE!!
AN EMBARRASSMENT OF RICHES
AND IN ACCEPTING THIS NOMINATION, I WOULD LIKE TO THANK….
I have been paid the compliment of being nominated for three different awards….I feel just like other bloggers whose acceptance speeches I have read..very surprised, very honored, and humbled.
Before I start, I hope that you all will forgive me for combining my “thank you’s” into one post..as with all of you, life is hectic (and the deer are outside screaming for corn) but I DO want to acknowledge these wonderful bloggers.
I’d like to thank them, and, if you don’t already know them, introduce them to you. My thanks to Colline for the “Kreativ Blogger” award..and an apology for being so late to acknowledge it! More thanks to Colline below…

And by nominee is………………………
magsx2 Constantly posting informative, gripping, grab your senses and shake you videos.
Some of these, such as the video from the dash cam of a car involved in the tsunami will remain with me for a long time.
Making us think more and feel more is always a GOOD thing!
They are getting the big hook from behind the stage curtain to remove me from the podium….Thanks again to the Academy
and do I get to keep all of the jewels I borrowed for this
GIVE THEM CHOCOLATE, THEY’RE IN A NASTY MOOD.
At the request of a fellow blogger, you know who you are Sonel…I am
posting this video of our regular visitors..They seemed to be having an
off night..almost no one was spared in this “rumble”..
I was all set to go out and referee, but at the last minute complete
and utter common sense prevailed. (I’m not that nuts yet!)
But then I looked out the window and they were glaring in at me and I
decided to go find some chocolate for myself.
MURDER IN THE WOODS!
Caution…This image may be upsetting.
This happened not twenty minutes ago at the edge of the property that is cleared.
I was walking through the house and saw a Coyote, standing as if FROZEN..staring into the
woods..I do have some video,,not much. I then grabbed my camera and my pepper foam and ran
to the front of the house to alert my husband who was outside…Then,,,I became a National
Geographic Photographer..(I wish)…creeping along the side of the house…The coyote never
saw me, but my daughter let me know that whatever it was after, it had killed.
As I advanced I took a few test shots..not too good..and at some point it must have heard
the camera firing and grabbed it’s kill and trotted toward the river. I have one shot that
can tell the story..if you look closely, you can see the groundhog’s teeth. This groundhog
was bigger than my DOG!!
Whoa! It was approximately 3:20 in the afternoon in broad daylight….Pepper foam..never
leave home without it.
TIMELESS
I’ve watched some videos recently that have been posted
about the tragedy that affected Japan just one year ago.
All one can think is: how fragile life is, how fragile life is.
How strong love is.
I have the highest respect for the survivors of this disaster and
the courage they display is beyond remarkable. The looks in the
eyes of those who were immediately affected that day…the
courage it takes for some to go on..I am humbled and wishing that
the sympathy and love that you feel in your heart for them could
go directly to their hearts…so that they could truly know that
others feel their pain, and wish they could take that pain away.
This blog entry was supposed to share some images with you that I
love. They are from moments in my life that I will always cherish.
The videos of Japan are a HUGE reminder to cherish those we love,
the good moments that we have, the blessings as we’re granted
another day to fill with love and hopefully laughter.
The last picture is of “Mama”, the star of my book…she is no longer
with us.
She will have a piece of my heart for ever and ever.
Here are some of my moments.
THE LITTLE BALD HEADED SQUIRREL GOES ON A SEARCH
As many of you know….lovely Nia is knitting a hat for my little bald headed squirrel visitor.
It is on it’s way to us….Nia has informed me it is coming all the way to the U.S.A.
This morning I saw a LOT of commotion in the back yard and decided to investigate….
This is what I saw…….
MIDNIGHT THE MIGHTY VIDEO
Another short little post…..Midnight the Mighty, along with Young Buck visited
us this entire winter…Such a thrill when he showed up…so without further ado,
may I present “Midnight The Mighty”.
THE LITTLE BALD SQUIRREL AND THE HAT
I felt that I should write tonight because there has been a developing story concerning
the little bald squirrel. Niasunset, who is an angel, has actually knitted a hat for
the little squirrel and the hat will soon be crossing the world to come to me in order
that it can be presented to the squirrel. I have advised a few special co-conspirators
of this situation,,,I will be sending Nia a pair of “squirrel underpants” that I actually
purchased in a store…as a token of my undying gratitude for her kind and gentle heart.
So prepare yourselves…..soon you will see the little bald squirrel in his lovely hat. (I
don’t think I can get the underpants on him).

SOUTHERN BREEZES
I seem to be in a real Florida mode. I’ll share just a few more images
of a past trip……..those waters are whispering my name and I am
helpless to resist.
FEED ME! FEED ME!
So today we’re going to have a little short story. Hopefully the image
of my little visitor friend, (not the bald one) will show up first.
If not, this is a shot taken from my desk as I sat at my computer. I guess
he just wanted to say hi, or else he was trying to decide how to free the
little squirrels I was holding captive on the walls of my studio!
The rest of this is my interpretation of a frantic, manic exchange I
witnessed in Florida………..I was exhausted when it was over. I was
also very glad that I had never had to feed my children in that way.
BELOW THE CLOUDS ABOVE THE CLOUDS
Today is dark and dreary…so I thought a little blue sky was in order….
I thought today would be kind of a downer and then I saw that the bald squirrel
was back..so not so dreary after all. Here I am, when I should be working on a dozen other
things and I’m pondering how this squirrel went bald…
A knock-down, drag-out hair-pulling domestic disturbance?
An unfortunate run-in with a machete wielding raccoon?
Too little Vitamin A?
He stood too close to the stove?
Male pattern baldness in squirrels?
Acid rain?
Enough! I need to get on with it…..NO MORE LOOKING OUT THE WINDOW!!!!!!!!!!!
